We are not on our own – Iron Sharpens Iron

Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)

17 As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens a friend.

DSCN5312Thank you for revisiting the Modern Day Princess blog!  From now on I would love to start taking your entries about how God has used this ministry to work in your lives!  Anytime one of our blogs stirs your heart to share, we encourage you to listen to the Holy Spirit’s prompting and write down your thoughts and send them to me, Tara at info@moderndayprincess.net

This past weekend I was honored to attend a wedding of one of the women that I attended a MDP class with, and it stirred up the ‘warm fuzzies’ I feel when I pause to ponder God’s goodness…this time specifically regarding meaningful relationships.

So for me, the timing of my MDP class coincided with a very stormy season in my life, of relationship challenges, mindset changes and spiritual trials. All this at once, wrong or right, left me feeling very lonely.  I felt like my conversations were limited with my ‘non-Christian’ friends and I was still pretty new to my church and barely getting to know some new ‘Christian friends’.  I now recognize that God used this opportunity to prepare me to firm up a foundation solid in relationship with Him alone first, but also through the class He unveiled and reminded me that we are not meant to walk through this journey alone.

The thought filled Still His Princess curriculum, the wise teaching and the transparent discussions with the lovely group of women, has helped me process and refocus so many key topics.  The class setup intentionally and effectively provides a safe and open platform to share and sharpen each other’s faith through dicussion, and this doesn’t end when the class term ends. It provides for a natural springboard for a handful of quality equally yoked friendships.   In the short time since our class term concluded we’ve walked and prayed together through a wedding, a crucial romantic relationship change, and employment changes…just to highlight a few.

Where I had felt in my life relationships crumbling, friendships weakening and ‘the usual’ invitations dwindling the Good Lord built up a solid sisterhood rooting in The Truth, which is more fruitful than any friendship circle I could have even imagined or cultivated on my own will.  I now see all relationships past and present in a new light, I’m going out with new quality relationships, a refined and purposeful direction, and a trusty team of peers to more confidently navigate the storms alongside!

How has participating in the community of women within the MDPrincess ministry impacted you?

  1. Tara, Thank you for your words of wisdom. I am glad that you have found friendships and the joy of walking life with other Christian women. Looking forward to your other posts as you lean on the King for encouragement and then pass the encouragement on to others.

  2. Dear Tara,

So glad that you are doing this. I loved reading your story! Of how God brought you from confusion to THE Truth. So beautiful! I am only in my third year of teaching MDP but already I have learned so much. The greatest, most important thing that I have learned is that God called me to teach, to love, and to care for these young ladies but I cannot and am not expected to change their minds. The Holy Spirit does that. All I can do is show them the love of God and God, Himself will change their lives. I just need to pray . . .

Thank you for making this blog. I am sure that it will be an encouragement to many women!
    Rebecca
